Complementary Touristic Programme
For those of you who wish to stay a bit longer among us, the Organization has design a Complementary Touristic Programme.
The proposed activities are:
Trip to Gernika-Bermeo
A trip along the coast to Bermeo passing through Bakio and San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.
In Bermeo we will pay a visit to the Fisherman’s Museum (Museo del Pescador).
The museum opened its doors on the 18 August 1948, taking up the ground and first floors of the building housing it. The second floor was originally designed to house the Alonso de Ercilla Museum although the museum never opened. In 1959 it was occupied by the Municipal Library which remained there until 1977.
The Provincial Government of Bizkaia decided to restore the interior of the building with work being completed in 1986, marking the beginning of a new era. The building, with the museum now occupying all the floors, reopened in 1988. In 1995-96 the outside of the tower was restored.

Trip to Gernika-Lumo via Mundaka.
Lunch at the restaurant at Hotel Boliña in Gernika. Guided tour of Gernika, the Regional Parliament of Biscay (Casa de Juntas) and the Park of the Peoples of Europe (Parque de los Pueblos de Europa).
Return to Bilbao.
Price per person: €84.

Trip to the transporter bridge
Early-morning departure to Algorta travelling all the way along the banks of the Bilbao Estuary.
Visit to the transporter bridge (Puente Vizcaya or Puente Colgante), without doubt one of the city’s favourite landmarks and a construction that is particularly close to the hearts of the people of Portugalete and Getxo, who have been well served by this famous working bridge for more than a century.

We continue along La Avanzada Road towards Getxo Marina, a route flanked by 10 kilometres of enchanting cliffs and beaches, and, affording gorgeous views of a stunning coastline.
We carry on to Bilbao, stopping at Mount Artxanda to take in one of the finest views of the city.
Lunch at the restaurant of the Artxanda Hotel and Catering College.
Price per person: €75
Minimum of 25 people.
Trip to Donostia-San Sebastian
Early-morning departure in the direction of San Sebastián. Donostia was a fortified city until 1862, when its walls were pulled down. This sparked a fierce debate between the so-called "pro-boulevardists" and "anti-boulevardists"; i.e. between the proponents of a plan to retain an open area between the Old Town and the “Ensanche” (the grid-shaped extension designed by Antonio Cortázar), and the opponents of such an idea. Fortunately it was the "boulevaristas" who triumphed. Thanks to them we can now enjoy the recently refurbished La Alameda del Boulevard, an attractive pedestrianised area ideal for a stroll, relaxing on one of the benches, listening to music at the bandstand or meeting up with friends en route to the Old Town.

Guided tour of the city taking in the Old Town, Town Hall Square, Maria Cristina Hotel, La Concha Promenade and the beach, not, forgetting the Kursaal Conference Centre of course, famous for its glass structure.
Lunch at the Saizar Cider House in Usurbil, featuring a typical cider house menu: cod omelette, fried cod with Piquillo peppers (1 portion per person), lettuce and onion salad, beef chop (1 chop serves 4 people), bread, local cheeses, quince jelly, walnuts, organic Saizar cider, mineral water, wine and coffee.
Return to Bilbao.
Price per person: € 78.
Minimum of 25 people.
Trip to Laguardia
The district of La Rioja Alavesa is known the world over for the quality of its superb wines. It is an area dedicated to grape growing and winemaking, and most villages are home to a winery (bodega) or two where visitors are welcome to drop in and find out about the winemaking process. In recent years, world-famous architects such as Frank Gehry and Santiago Calatrava have designed new buildings for the leading wineries in the area.
Laguardia, the largest town in the district, is known as the “capital of wine” and boasts National Heritage status. Sitting atop a small hill, its medieval streets, walls, stately houses and two fortified churches have remained intact. One of its main attractions is the church of Santa María de los Reyes with its magnificent portal with five archivolts.
Just outside the town lie a series of pools - a protected biosphere reserve - the Los Molinos Bird Reserve, and the remains of the settlement of La Hoya. However, no trip would be complete without a visit to one of the many wineries in the district, where the ins and outs of the winemaking process are revealed in detail. You’ll be able to enjoy a tasting on most visits and also pick up a bottle or two at very reasonable prices.
Lunch at the restaurant of the Posada Mayor in Migueloa.

Price per person: €99.
Minimum of 25 people.
