Former Colombian president Ernesto Samper will provide the Latin American viewpoint at the World Summit in Bilbao

The former president of Colombia, Ernesto Samper, has confirmed that he will take part in the II World Summit of Cities and Local Authorities on the Information Society. Based on his experience as leader of one of the most important countries in Latin America, Samper will contribute his continent’s point of view with regard to solutions to overcome the digital divide. Samper is currently taking part in several international forums which are seeking closer links between Europe and America, always based on concepts such as solidarity and respect for human rights. During his recent tour of Colombia, the President of the Basque Country, Lehendakari Juan José Ibarretxe, held meetings with different Colombia dignitaries, including Samper.

The former president of Colombia is one of the most active leaders in Latin America. The promoter of several peace initiatives in his country, Samper is a defender of sustainable economic models that include Third World development, and has been working to attract European investments for Colombia.
