Setting-up of the World Association of Regions and Local Authorities
The act held in Lyon on 3 December 2003 was attended by the Basque President
The Constituent Assembly of the World Association of Regions and Local Authorities for the Information Society took place on 3 December 2003, one day before a world congress on electronic technologies was to be held in the French city. Representatives from different regions and local authorities attended the constituent act of the association. The Basque President was present on behalf of the Basque Government. Among others, Jordi Alvinyá, the Secretary of Telecommunications and Information Society of the Generalitat de Catalunya attended on behalf of Catalonia. The representative from the region of Dakar (Senegal) was Abdoulaye Faye, while Aquitaine was represented by Michel Férillot.
