The vision of Local Authorities at the Tunis Summit
The Bilbao Summit took place a few days before that of Tunis, where States met to review the advances made since the Geneva Summit and to adopt a common strategy for the coming years.
The Bilbao Declaration and the Plan of Action was submitted at the Tunis Summit with the aim of their being integrated into the contributions made by the players in the Information Society. The Secretary General of the United Nations was requested to take into consideration the commitments taken on by local authorities in Bilbao.
Likewise and in the line of the United Nations Reform, it was proposed to the Secretary General that he attach the Bilbao Declaration and Plan of Action to the commitments on the part of States in order for these elements as a whole to constitute the new reference framework of public policies on a local, national and international level.
